The band of brave adventurers left Feathergale Spire with directions to a strange monastery hidden in the broken hills to the east. They headed east, hoping to search the location for a sign or lead to the missing delegation from Mirabar.
Hiking late into the night, they heard sounds of combat just over the next rise. Rushing forward they found a traveller, his guards slain around him, fending off an ambush by a squad of gnolls! Together, they fended off the attack, and the traveller introduced himself as Kelin, a nobleman off to seek adventure and prove himself to his family. He proved to have powerful abilites, and the group was glad to include him in their ranks.
At the location of the hidden monastery, the group encountered strangely garbed monks in gargoyle masks that tried to get them to simply leave. Instead, Kelin proved able to cloud the mind of one of the monks and got them to escort them into the monastery to meet with the head priest. A strange man named Qarbo, with two guards wearing the same stone armor the adventurers had discovered earlier in the hills above Red Larch..
Qarbo and the monks proved to be earth worshipping cultists, and he promised them great power if they joined the cult. Convincing most of the companions to walk down some steps for an initiation rite, Qarbo pulled a lever and dumped the entire group into a room below to face a horribly mutilated Umber Hulk!
The Umber Hulk proved to be no match for our heroes.
Impressed by the team’s prowess, Qarbo sent the adventurers to rest in a barracks while they awaited a meeting with the Abbess. Bree decided to explore alone, and snuck off, much to the dismay of the rest of the party. Uninclined to give up their weapons and armor the party began to discuss how they could assassinate the Abbess in full view of four of the Sacred Stone monks, which promptly attacked them. Bree discovered that the statues she was eager to deface were in fact, gargoyles, which promptly attacked her.
Bree fled back to the rest of the group in time to help finish off the last of the monks.
The group, tired and battle worn with no place to rest, donned the monk’s attire and fled the monastery.
After resting miles away from the monastery, the group decided to investigate the druid’s gathering at Scarlet Moon Tower instead.
The tower proved to have several camps around a hill with a partially ruined tower and a wooden effigy of a giant at the top.
Our heroes decided to check out the camps on the hill to see what was going on.
The first camp included 4 druids and 2 elk, excited to see the upcoming rites to celebrate the formation of a new druidic circle.
The second camp however, proved to be fire-worshipping cultists disguised as druids with a chained bear. The bear broke free just as the cultsts unleashed burning flames from their hands into the party.
Chunk, Bran, Bree, and the bear managed to dispatch one of the cultists.
Pavel ran back to the first camp to try to get help, and Kelin backed off as well.
This proved to be a good decision, as the 2nd priest unleashed the power of a fireball on Chunk, Bran, Bree, and the bear- quickly turning the tide of the battle in favor of the cultist.
Pavel rallied the other druids to help, Kelin moved to heal his fallen companions, and Bree staggered forward to grapple the pyromaniac.
Healing magics used, the adventurers defeated the last cultist, and fled into the night, away from the burning pyre behind them.
The band had discovered active cults, but hadn’t found any sign of the missing caravan. So they decided to head to Beliard to rest up, and see if they could uncover the trail there.
