Spread propaganda about yourselves to improve your relations with the locales. A well placed rumor can be more damaging than a sword blow.

Spend 1gp per day spent as a rumormonger beyond standard lifestyle costs. The time required depends on the size of the settlement. For example a village takes 2d6 days to spread rumors but a large city might take 6d6 days to really sway public opinion about something. These rumors reflect general public opinion, and don’t necessarily match an individual’s opinion.
